Restaurant Owners: How to Keep Your Eatery Safe and Secure

image

When you own a restaurant, you understand that your business is vulnerable to several security issues, including employee theft, burglary, and armed robbery. Those are just a few of the reasons why it is so important to have sufficient restaurant security in place. This will help you protect yourself, your employees and your customers.

Unfortunately, protecting your inventory and assets is no easy task. However, some tips can help you along the way.

Install a business security system. With this, you can electronically protect your employees and assets. Modern technology even allows you to not only monitor, but control, what happens in your restaurant when you aren’t there. You can manage the security cameras, alarm systems and even window and door sensors remotely.

Utilize video surveillance. A video surveillance system can help you deter crime, which includes employee theft. It can also help you capture incidents that will help investigators or law enforcement officers if an issue occurs.

Install intrusion detection systems. These typically feature automated lighting controls, which means if an intruder forces one of your doors open, breaks a window or activates one of the motion sensors, the lights in the parking lot and all the other exterior building lights will come on.

Deposit cash daily. In some cases, you will need to make multiple deposits each day. This is especially important during busier times of the day or night.

Utilize an inventory control system. This will help to deter employees from stealing merchandise. It can also help you identify any shortages in the supplies, which may signify employee theft.

As you can see, there are several ways you can safeguard your business and assets. Utilizing the tips here will help ensure your restaurant remains as secure as possible.

Residential Security

Keep Your Pets Safe While You’re Away

For most pet owners, their animals are extremely important parts of their lives. While it is easy to take care of Fluffy and Rover while you are home, what happens when you’re at work, or just away from home?

Thankfully, there are several things you can do to help protect your furry friends while you are away.

Install a home security system. You need to make sure to choose one that includes video surveillance, as well as remote video access. This will allow you to check on your pets from any smartphone, tablet, computer or another Internet-enabled device. You can also choose a burglar alarm designed with pets in mind, so your animals don’t cause any false alarms.

Install quality fire and carbon dioxide alarms/monitors. While audible smoke detectors are important, you also need a monitored fire alarm system and carbon monoxide system to fully protect your pets. If a fire does happen to erupt while you are away from home, the monitoring service can dispatch the proper authorities to help.

Utilize the services of a trustworthy pet sitter. If you are unsure that your pets are going to be fine while at home alone, especially extremely young or old pets, then a pet sitter may be the ideal solution.

Keep all harmful items out of reach. You need to move plants that may be poisonous, paint, cleaning chemicals and medicines from locations where your pets may get to them. Also, remove items made of glass that may fall and injure your pet. Other tips include covering trash cans and heating and air vents, along with toilets.

Use automatic feeders. During the day, your pets are going to get hungry; however, you can’t leave out an entire day’s worth of food. A better option is to use automated pet feeders that will portion out your pet’s food during the day. When you use the tips here, you can feel confident that your fur babies will remain secure, even while you are away.

Amazing Gadgets That Can Help Protect Your Home Office

image

If you work from home, you understand how important security is. This is especially the case when a burglary occurs every 15 seconds somewhere around the world. Working from home also means that you likely store mission-critical, expensive equipment and information there that would be devastating to lose. However, there are far too many people who don’t take the necessary steps to safeguard it.

While this may seem like an impossible task, it doesn’t have to be. There are a few pretty amazing gadgets that can help you secure what’s important in your home office.

Install a smart lock on your office door. Forget about old-school door locks. These are easy to pick and require that you use an easily copied and misplaced key. However, a smart lock doesn’t. This is a Bluetooth enabled, key-less securing device for your door. This provides a rather high tech upgrade for the traditional thumb latch deadbolt. You can even find these locks in stylish designs, helping them to blend in with your office environment. With this device (which is controlled via a smart device) you can lock or unlock remotely, and you don’t have to worry about misplacing a key ever again.

Install a biometric fingerprint safe. Even though you can store virtually anything via the cloud, there are still some hard copy documents you have to hang on to and safeguard. This includes things such as Social Security cards, passports, living wills, insurance policies and more. The best place to store items such as these is in a fireproof safe. However, do not use a traditional safe. Using a biometric locking safe means that no one can open it but you. This provides an additional layer of protection for these sensitive documents.

If you are looking for effective ways to safeguard your home office, then you need to use the tips found here. You can have peace of mind that your sensitive materials are safe and protected when you utilize the information here
